To commemorate the Word Breastfeeding Week 1997 (WBW 97), the Working Board for Breastfeeding Promotion (WBBP) or Indonesian Breastfeeding Foundation(IBF) carried out some activities of which the climax of the action was a One Day Seminar on " Breastfeeding: Nature's Way", held on the7th of August 1997 at the building of the Ministry for Environment. The theme taken was as recommended by WABA: "Breastfeeding Support the Better Environment". 

The activities being done were to develop-produce two big jumbo posters/banners, the one was put exposed on the wall of the big building of the Ministry of Health while the second one was placed at the building of the top referal teaching hospital the Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital. 

We also designed produced and distributed ordinary posters and 10.000 thousands of leaflets containing the important new information materials for the dissemination of the National Breastfeeding Week 97, WGBP also gave talk in the radio and sent an article to a women magazine, sent some materials produced with the papers of the Seminar to some major newspapers and magazines.

An intersectoral forum, it was the National Working Group for Breastfeedingof the Ministry for the Role of Women and some additional sectors and NGO's, was held twice in the month of July 97, to disseminate and discuss the World Breastfeeding Week 997. The Seminar was attended by about 250 participants either personally or as groups from some related sectors and NGO's and also friends three WGBP provinces.

The State Minister for the Role of Women, the State Minister for Environment and the Director of Indonesian Representative UNICEF gave key-notes, meanwhilethe presentations were about the topics of: 

• Back to Breastfeeding: an Environment Aspect, 
• Tips for Successful Breastfeeding, 
• Management of Breastfeeding Mother with AIDS, 
• An approach for the Youth about successful breastfeeding, and 
• An experience of breastfeeding that support the Environment by a public figure artist carrier woman. 

For more stimulating sphere, an opperette - panthomim on "Breastfeeding& Environment" was presented, and there were displays of documentations of some rare facilities by private institutions: a Baby Friendly private hospital St Carolus Hospital, two Breastfeeding Room in modern shopping centers of Ciputra Mall and Pondok Indah Mall and also a display of some breastfeeding materials by WGBF. Six door prizes were given at the end of the Seminar. 

The conclusion in brief among others: the commitment of the Ministry for Environment to support breastfeeding and will be disseminated to the NGO's related, the commitment of the Private TV, the aggreement to disseminate the lactation clinics. 

Pakages of the WBW 97 materials were sent to 27 provinces in the country with suggestions to carry out the about similar actions regarding the local situation. 

The Seminar was covered by 4 TV stations which was released 4 timesat the same day and the next day of the seminar.
