The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals
& organisations concerned with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the
Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF & an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

Day 2, Tuesday, June 2  

Field Trip  

We'll provide more information on the field trips as it becomes available. 

A. Hospital based creche in Philippines General Hospital in Manila. It is the state university medical center.  

B. Government Fabella Hospital which has a training center for medical personnel on lactation management. It is a known Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital in Manila.  

C. A factory site with day care service in Metro Manila run by a union.  

D. Government Health Center and Day Care in Laguna and Cavite (UNICEF project) in Southern Tagalog provinces outside Metro Manila.  

For the following sites E and F, participants are expected to pay for their own airfare. Lunch will be provided. 

E. Government Baguio General Hospital is located in the Mountain Province of Cordillera. They have their own distinct tribal culture. It is cold in Baguio City. It takes about 40 minutes to get there by plane. 

F. ARUGAAN sites in the Visayas Islands: Tacloban City in Leyte the creche training center of MAKAPAWA-ARUGAAN. Another site is in Sta. Rita, Samar, where the farmers/fisherfolks - women and men built their MAKAPAWA-ARUGAAN creche center. The mothers from the creche weave native mats and will make the bags for the WABA Workshop. It takes about an hour to get there by plane.
