The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals
& organisations concerned with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the
Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF & an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

BPNI is undertaking this activity in Delhi, and if you may like to adapt it, you are most welcome! 

How to involve schools: 

  • Identify 10-15 schools in your area
  • Identify school teachers in the selected schools
  • Brief them about good and bad practices of Infant & young child feeding and child health
  • Talk to them how to interact with their students from class VIII-XII
  • Give a project work to the students - visiting homes and record three good things and three bad things on the subject.
  • Compare the practices of earlier generation
  • Form a lead school to organise the programme.
  • Call them to the lead school during the Week.
  • Encourage children to draw painting out of the findings
  • Select five entries from each school
  • Conduct painting or cartoon competition. Theme can be "breastfeeding helps to increase children's IQ"
  • Give away prizes/certificates
  • Momento to lead school
  • Have a panel discussion or debate on the project result - eg. The good and bad practices on the issue.
  • Compile those practices and send your report to us.
