About Us

WABA Global Advocacy Task Force Co-coordinators, 2011-2012, are:

Patti Rundall
UNITED KINGDOM (UK)

Trained as an artist and teacher, since 1980 Patti Rundall has worked with IBFAN, to protect the rights of ALL parents – those who choose to use artificial feeding as well as those who breastfeed - to sound, evidence based and independent information about infant and young child feeding. She has focused on sponsorship, corporate partnerships and public relations and its impact on policies and is a co -coordinator of IBFAN's campaign to bring EU legislation into line with the International Code. She played a key role in the adoption of EU Commission rules requiring members of scientific advisory bodies to make public declarations of interest. She attends World Health Assemblies and consultations with WHO on Marketing to Children; and represents IBFAN and IACFO at Codex, and IBFAN on the European Commission’s Platform for Action on Diet and Physical Activity. These fora provide opportunities to challenge Europe’s leading food and advertising companies on their unethical marketing and to highlight how commercial involvement in health, education and research can be used to distort public health policies.

Patti is a Trustee of the 100-member Sustain, the alliance for better food and farming, and is the Secretariat of the Baby Feeding Law Group, an alliance of 23 UK health professional and mother support organisations focusing solely on marketing and legislation. She is also on the Steering Group of the 40 member UK Breastfeeding Manifesto Coalition which has 7 objectives, including Code implementation. Patti has led many company campaigns, including the 20 country Nestle Boycott, attending the Nestle Shareholder meeting each year to challenge this company
