Join the initiative to get Google to make a "Google-Doodle" on World Breastfeeding Weeks' 20th Anniversary this year!

This year World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) celebrates its 20th anniversary! In an effort to get as much publicity as possible for the WBW campaign on the world-wide-web, WABA is running this initiative to get Google to make a ‘Google-Doodle' to celebrate this great milestone.

Those familiar with internet use, and/or doing searches on the world-wide-web, would know about the globally famous company called ‘Google'. WABA is currently mobilizing as many people as possible to send emails in to Google to ask for them to make a ‘Google-Doodle' on World Breastfeeding Week!

‘Google Doodles', as described by the company, "are the fun, surprising and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries and the lives of famous artists, pioneers and scientists… Over time, the demand for doodles has risen in the US and internationally. Creating doodles is now the responsibility of a team of talented illlustrators (we call them doodlers) and engineers. For them, creating doodles has become a group effort to enliven the Google homepage and bring smiles to the faces of Google users around the world". In the beginning, the doodles mostly celebrated familiar holidays; but nowadays they highlight a wide array of events and anniversaries. For examples of Google Doodles done in 2012, see: http://www.google.com/doodles/finder/2012/All%20doodles

WABA has started this mini-campaign for a WBW Google Doodle on the WABA Facebook page as well as the WBW 2012 page .

Google states that the doodle team is always excited to hear ideas from users and invite people to send their proposals to their email - proposals@google.com - with ideas for the next Google doodle.

We really hope you will join us in our effort to lobby Google to make a WBW Doodle as this would give the 20th World Breastfeeding Week global visibility on a massive scale, and would help mobilize more people to join the campaign to Protect, Promote and Support Breastfeeding, and WBW!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Mourin,
WBW Coordinator
